REGULAR WAIVER SCHOLARSHIP

Regular Waiver Policy

This policy shall cover all types of stipend or waiver or scholarship or any financial concession to any student in any name or under any head at any level of study which will be collectively called as ‘Waiver’.

Types of Waivers

The university shall provide the following types of waivers to the student in a semester subject to the fulfillment of the conditions specified for each type:

  1. Waiver for meritorious students of remote and underdeveloped areas
  2. Sufi Mizan Foundation stipend
  3. Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Scholarship Fund
  4. Relational Stipend
  5. Waiver at the time of admission
  6. Board of Trustee’s stipend
  7. Vice Chancellor’s stipend
  8. Waiver for Physically Challenged Students

1. Waiver for Remote and Underdeveloped Areas

Meritorious but poor students of remote and underdeveloped areas of the country are eligible to get 100% waiver on tuition fees. It includes the stipend to be awarded based on the GPA obtained in the immediate past semester. It will cover 3% of the students admitted in a semester. The percentage may be appropriately reduced to extend benefits to more students.

2. Sufi Mizan Foundation Stipend

Meritorious students admitted to a program in a semester subject to the fulfillment of general criteria will get the benefits of this scholarship to be determined by the GPA obtained in the immediate past semester. A rule will be framed in due course for its implementation.

3. Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honour of UITS BOT Chairman Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman’s wife Tahmina Rahman. It is awarded to three students, including at least one female student, from each department of the university in each semester.

4. Relational Stipend

The following categories are available on meeting general criteria:

  • Spouse: 20% waiver on tuition fees.
  • Sibling: 20% waiver on tuition fees.
  • UITS Employee Relations: 20% waiver (min. 1 year of service).
  • PHP Family Employee Relations: Rate determined by PHP Family authority.
  • UITS Alumni (Graduate Program): 25% waiver on tuition fees.

5. Waiver at the time of Admission

For Undergraduate Programs (SSC & HSC Results):

  • A+ at both SSC & HSC levels (excl. 4th subject): 100% waiver.
  • Combined GPA 10: 40% waiver.
  • GPA 9.5 but less than 10: 30% waiver.
  • GPA 9.0 but less than 9.5: 20% waiver.
  • GPA 8.5 but less than 9.0: 15% waiver.
  • GPA 8.0 but less than 8.5: 10% waiver.

For Diploma Students (Combined GPA):

  • GPA 9.0: 40% waiver.
  • GPA 8.5 but less than 9.0: 30% waiver.
  • GPA 8.0 but less than 8.5: 20% waiver.
  • GPA 7.5 but less than 8.0: 15% waiver.
  • GPA 7.0 but less than 7.5: 10% waiver.

6. Board of Trustee’s Stipend

Nine stipends will be awarded to the students of different programs by the Hon’ble Chairman and members of BOT on their own consideration in a semester.

7. Vice Chancellor’s Stipend

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor will give five stipends in a semester to the deserving students in consultation with Treasurer, BOT adviser, and representative of BOT.

8. Waiver for Physically Challenged Students

Physically challenged students admitted at UITS will get 75% waiver on tuition fees.
